Zim-the wiki-style text editor

packages (software)
In the past few days I was searching for an app to replace Tomboy but with no success (I’m trying to remove all mono apps from my computer). A few hours ago, I came across this post from Mandla’s blog, about Zim, a desktop wiki. He says that Zim it’s “great for everything, and I strongly recommend it if you have any kind of hierarchical documentation that changes regularly or needs to be kept up to date. I use it to keep notes as I tinker with things; I can add and adjust pages to remind myself of commands I used or steps I took when I tried something. “
I took his word for granted and I’ve installed on my computer. As a first impression Zim fits my needs.
Here are some of the things I like about it (at a glance):
- keybindings (unlike Tomboy)
- image support (unlike Tomboy)
- plugins for TODO lists, calendar, spell checking, etc (as it is mentioned on Zim’s official website)
UPDATE: I found out that there is also a Tomboy-to-Zim notes converter
